The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) requires anyone wishing to volunteer in Texas prisons to attend a training session every 2 years. The first time in person, two years later renewing online is an option, followed by an in person training 2 years later.
You do not need to have an approval letter from the state or send in an application to attend this training. You may fill out an application there. If you are an approved TDCJ Volunteer and you have not had training since October 2014, you can renew at this training.
